How to Get Involved
MAOT Volunteer Spotlight
What MAOT volunteer roles have you participated in?
Clerk and Vice President
What inspired you to become a volunteer with MAOT?
The opportunity to be involved in the profession on a larger scale, meet well-known OTPs, and inspire change within the organization
How has volunteering with MAOT impacted your professional or personal growth?
I have met so many OTPs in our state who I would've never had the opportunity to connect with and they serve as role models to me. I have also learned a lot about the importance of the role of state organizations in protecting our profession through advocacy work at the state government level.
How do you feel your work as a volunteer has made a difference in the community?
I hope that my involvement in MAOT has at the very least helped to bring Western MA representation to the board and the organization. I think hosting the Spring conference in Western MA was a good example of this!
What would you say to someone considering volunteering with MAOT for the first time?
Do it! Be okay with stepping outside of your comfort zone. We're a fun group and we love new faces and new ideas.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the MAOT community?
Getting to know other OTPs from across the state. In OT it's all who you know and I really enjoy expanding my professional network through this organization.
